Medipan GmbH

Company Profile

Medipan GmbH, founded in 1992  is an independent family company active in medical diagnostics, especially via immunological digital techniques for the fast & accurate diagnosis of autoimmune.

Located in Ludwig-Erhard-Ring 3, 15827 Blankenfelde-Mahlow OT Dahlewitz, south of Berlin, the company started with the marketing of radioimmunoassay products for the characterization of thyroid function, disease and tumour markers, with its partners from nuclear medicine laboratories, firstly within Germany and then soon from other countries. Later, the product portfolio expanded to include non-radioactive tests, and tests to detect autoantibodies found in patients suffering from autoimmune type 1 diabetes.

Medipan is a continuously growing company in the domestic and international diagnostic markets. In 2009, she became the first company in the world to introduce a commercially available system for the fully automated, objective evaluation of cell-based immunofluorescence tests: The AKLIDES® system marked a new milestone in the development of the immunofluorescence method – one of the oldest and most widespread laboratory procedures for the diagnosis of autoimmune diseases. The now-possible standardization and mathematically proven prediction of antibody concentration are the reasons that the system has received several awards.

Together with the sister company, GA Generic Assays GmbH, today Medipan GmbH, being active in over 70 countries, is an innovative and world-renowned partner for medical laboratories, physicians, medical institutes and research centres in the manufacture of manual detection test kits and automated systems in the following areas:

ELISA | Radioimmunoassay | Immunofluorescence assays | Lateral flow | LINE/Dot assays

The target conditions include:

Thyroid diseases | Type 1 diabetes | Rheumatoid arthritis | Polyendocrinopathies | Neuropathies | Vasculitis/Nephritis | Gastroenterology | Autoimmune hepatitis | Anti phospholipid syndrome | Complement system | Progressive systemic sclerosis | Atypical hemolytic-uremic syndrome | Pancreatitis | Systemic rheumatic inflammatory diseases | Celiac diseases | Crohn’s diseases | Myasthenia gravis |

Public funding

Many of Medipan GmbH’s new developments are supported by public funding. The innovation performance of Medipan GmbH can thus be fully exploited and has contributed to the growth of the company especially in recent years.

Project description:

Employment of a student trainee within the framework of a company innovation project

Objectives and (expected) results: Development of evaluation algorithms for higher resolutions

Artificially extrapolated images are to be used to further specify an image analysis algorithm. This should make it easier to evaluate structures that were previously not differentiable for the algorithm due to a resolution that was too low. For this purpose, shapes, structures, diameters and distances of the individual microstructures to be identified are determined experimentally and provided with further variables. This technique is highly innovative.

Funded by the European Union and the State of Brandenburg.
